Event locations

The event center is located in the village Äkäslompolo, in front of the grocery market “Jounin Kauppa”. The municipality is called Kolari. Äkäslompolo is close to the fell Yllästunturi aka “Ylläs”.

The race office, the bib pickup, the market area, the start of 37 km and the finish of 160 km, 100 km and 37 km.

The start line of 160 km’s and 66 km’s races is located in Hetta (village) at “Enontekiön Koulukeskus”. There is a charter bus connection from Äkäslompolo’s event center to Hetta’s start area. You can buy a bus ticket at the same time you register into a race. The municipality is called Enontekiö.

The finish area of the 66 km’s race is in Pallas. There is a free charter bus connection (no reservation needed) from Pallas to the Äkäslompolo’s event center. Connection to Lapland Hotels Saaga (Ylläsjärvi).

The start line of 100 km’s race is located in Pallas. There is a charter bus connection from Äkäslompolo’s event center to Pallas. You can buy a bus ticket at the same time you register into a race.

Travelling to Lapland

Travel service company Pohjolan Matka drives a coach on Thursday from Oulu and Rovaniemi all the way to the event center in Äkäslompolo and back on Sunday after the event. The travel timetable, description and ticket booking available on Pohjolan Matka website. Scroll down the page to see details in English at Pohjolan Matka’s site.

For train connections check Finnish train service VR.fi website. Train connections to Rovaniemi several times a day and to Kolari a night train on Thursday or earlier.

Rovaniemi

Several daily flights from Helsinki to Rovaniemi by Finnair with reasonable pricing if you book early.

In July there are no regular bus connections to Ylläs but the mentioned special connection by Pohjolan Matka drives on Thursday from Rovaniemi to the Äkäslompolo event center.

Kolari

Night train from Helsinki travels to Kolari with connections by bus to Äkäslompolo, Ylläs. July 2026 train timetables will published in the Spring at the vr.fi website. The bus connection from/to train to Ylläs/Äkäslompolo is operated by Heiskasen Liikenne Oy/Tunturilinjat Oy. Train to bus timetables and tickets from https://liput.matkahuolto.fi

Kittilä

Finnair flies to Kittilä during the event week. To get to the event center in Äkäslompolo from the Kittilä airport you need to book a connection at least 18 hours beforehand. The forwarding connection is operated by Liikenne Rundgren Oy. Call trafic order form is online Call Trafic from/to Kittilä .

Accommodation

In Äkäslompolo, near the competition center, we recommend Lapland Hotels Äkäshotelli.

In Ylläsjärvi, Lapland Hotels Saaga is at your service. There are bus connections from these hotels to the starting points in Hetta and Pallas.

The NUTS Ylläs Pallas event centre is located in the village called Äkäslompolo. Äkäslompolo stands next to the fell Yllästunturi aka Ylläs. That is why people usually talk about the region of Ylläs.

Visit Ylläs

Visit Ylläs offers lots of information about the destination and its services like accommodation possibilities, restaurants and additional activities.

Yllästunturi Visitor Centre Kellokas (close to Äkäslompolo) is the service centre of the Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park.

NUTS Event Buses to Starting Point

Participant buses from the event center in Äkäslompolo, Ylläs on Friday for 160 km and 66 km to Hetta and for 100 km starting points in Pallas.

Book your place in a bus when registering to the race or later on via the self service link provided with the registering confirmation email.

We provide shuttle buses to return 66 km runners from Pallas finish line back to Äkäslompolo event centre. Separate forward connection from Jounin Kauppa in Äkäslompolo to Lapland Hotels Saaga during the night. No booking needed for these shuttle buses.

NOTE: Transports are not available between Pallas–Hetta, Hetta–Pallas or Hetta–Äkäslompolo. Distances between these places in the middle of nowhere are almost 100 km or more. The only available means of public transport are taxis with long wait times.
